Akshay Kumar Finally Speaks About His “Canadian Passport”, Says ‘He’s Disappointed’

Akshay Kumar may have won over the hearts of millions with his several box office smashes, but he’s still had to face several nasty remarks and jokes surrounding his alleged Canadian citizenship or holding a Canadian passport.

A certain section in social media has always managed to shove-in the subject, each time anything related to his work has been brought up, but more so during his political or ‘non-political’ (if you know what we mean) public appearances.

After a prolonged silence on the subject, the actor recently addressed the subject on his official Twitter handle.

The 51 year old stated that he had never, in fact, denied holding a Canadian passport while also expressing his disappointment at people for always bringing the ‘personal, legal and non-political’ matter in every discussion.

Read his full statement below:

“I really don’t understand the unwarranted interest and negativity about my citizenship. I have never hidden or denied that I hold a Canadian passport. It is also equally true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years. I work in India, and pay all my taxes in India. While all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship issue is constantly dragged into needless controversy, a matter that is personal, legal, non-political, and of no consequence to others.”
