You may not remember the name, but if you grew up in the 90’s, you’re most likely to remember that face.
We’re talking about former actress Mayoori Kango, who was popularly seen in films like ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ and ‘Hogi Pyar Ki Jeet’ and became pretty popular among the masses with her appearance in the song ‘Ghar Se Nikalte Hi’ alongside Jugal Hansraj.
Kango’s career may not have gone anywhere post a number of failed attempts at the box office, but she still managed to find another field to excel in – unlike most other struggling Bollywood aspirants.
After all these years of staying away from the spotlight, the former actress managed to excel in the world of corporate – making a name for herself in the digital advertising world.
The 37 year old recently joined Google India as its industry head – agency business and presently resides in Gurugram.
Kango had previously told Times Of India, how she had even got through IIT Kanpur but had to opt out of it due to her growing popularity following her first few releases, especially ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ – which came out in 1996. She then managed to complete her bachelors and masters degrees while studying from home, eventually establishing a stable career for herself in digital advertising.
She also completed her MBA in marketing and finance from City University of New York-Baruch College – Zicklin School of Business.
From Bollywood to Google – certainly an unusual career graph and resume for a former popular face of showbiz.
