As the #MeToo movement continues to catch pace in India, and particularly in Bollywood – a number of actors, producers and directors are being outed for their past predatory behavior, by their alleged sexual assault survivors.
But in the midst of it all, there are some instances where the movement seems to be loosing it’s context – as some lash out at a man’s extra-marital affair or keeping ‘other women’ while being married, and few others confuse the movement with a consensual past relationship, that turned bitter with time.
Former Miss India, Niharika Singh – is one such accuser, who recently shared her #MeToo story against ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ actor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is now being slammed for misusing the movement in the same lines.
Niharika, who was once in a relationship with the actor, had recently come out with her experience stating how the bond was created after a little coercion and how during one of their initial meetings at her place, he forcefully grabbed her and wouldn’t let go.

Niharika and other women accused Siddiqui of making up lies in his autobiography, due to which he withdrew the book.

While Nawaz hasn’t really spoken out about it, his ‘Sacred Games’ co-star Kubbra Sait has decided to take a stand for him, insisting how a clear line should be drawn between a failed relationship and an actual case of sexual harassment.
Here is what actress posted on Twitter:
A relationship gone sour, isn’t #MeToo someone needs to recognise the toxic difference before we go picking sides.
I stand by #NawazuddinSiddiqui or #Nowaz as a man.— Kubbra Sait (@kubrasait) November 10, 2018
I stand by the fact that although Niharika Singh may have had a tough time in the industry, categorising her once personal relationship as a #MeToo statement is incorrectly placed. We as humans are flawed. That isn’t gender specific.
