You know how, most beauty competitions are often mocked for celebrating vanity that has little do with one’s intelligence. The ideal search for most of these pageants is simply to look for someone who fits in the category of ‘beauty with brains’, as much as could be ascertained during their multiple Q&A rounds.
On many occasions some of these Q&A sessions result into a rather hilarious turn of events as the contestants attempt to impress the jury and the voters with their “princess-ly intellect” – meant to somehow establish world-peace.
Something similar occurred during the recent Miss Bangladesh competition, when one of the jury-members quizzed a contestants with a question that left her blinking her eyes into the vacuum of space.
The question was: ‘What is H20?’
Now in most cases, it wouldn’t take a top scholar to answer that it is a chemical composition of water, or that it is just… water. But that was no the case here as the beauty was left in an inner-conflict before coming up with her answer.
“Sir, it’s a restaurant. At Dhanmondi,” she said.
Apparently displeased with the answer, the judge gave her a sarcastic reply with, “We know there is a restaurant named h20, but we don’t know what it means. Very sad!”
To make the sequence of events even funnier, another Jury member began her portion by greeting everyone with, ‘Good evening,’ only to quickly correct herself with, ‘No actually, Goodnight.’ – obviously because it was night.
