The Inspiring Journey of Binita Jain: From Losing Husband to Terrorists to Winning 1 Cr on KBC

Binita Jain wrote her name in the history books of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ as she became the first contestant of the season to touch the ‘one crore mark’ during Tuesday’s much-talked about episode.

The single mother from Guwahati, Assam broke headlines as she managed to win Rs 1 crore on the game show before quitting without answering the top question for 7 crores.

But her remarkable win and vast knowledge aren’t the only things that have caught people’s attention, but her undeniable journey that has led her to the victorious path is also inspiring many.

Binita – like many contestants visiting the show – was marred with hardships and struggles for a major part of her life, before witnessing this glorious moment.

Back in the year 2003, Jain’s life was completely changed when her husband ventured out for an official trip to one of the adjacent states, and never returned back home.

Binita believes that her husband was in fact kidnapped by terrorists, as such activities were very common in the area during that time.

After countless attempts to find his whereabouts, Binita finally decided to take the responsibility of providing for their family on her own shoulders.

Considering her husband was the sole bread-earner of the family before, which also included their two growing kids, it was certainly going to be a task

She soon started giving home tuitions to nearby students and dedicated herself to it. The numbers soon rose astronomically and she, at present, provides classes to nearly 150 students of various subjects.

15 years have passed by since then and she still doesn’t know about her husband’s whereabouts. Even though the courts have already declared him ‘dead’, Binita is hopeful of his return even now, while still learning to move on and adapting to her new responsibilities.

Well Played #BinitaJain Ji , and we are very sorry and ashamed that our North East’s terrorist group killed your husband and made you helpless. Best wishes for tomorrow’s final 7th Crore question. Shame on you Militant group of North East. #RIP ULFA , NDFB, GNLA , BLT and all those terrorist you are enemy of humanity.

Her story and backdrop certainly make her win all the more triumphant.

Binita Jain has been the biggest face of inspiration this past week and a role model to those who are still learning about the art of ‘moving on’ and ‘taking charge of their own lives.’
