Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya Says, His Voice Made SRK a Rock Star

;There was a time Abhijeet Bhattacharya was known for his work as a playback singer. That certainly seems like a century ago now.

Whatever small number of songs he may have recorded for Bollywood movies, seem to have now taken a backseat, as the once popular vocalist, is now only in news for his social media antics and controversy-stirring comments.

Whether slut-shaming actresses or passing derogatory remarks towards a reporters who may not agree with him, Abhijeet has reduced himself to a ‘Twitter loudmouth’ – whose extremist commentary even led the site to terminate his account once.

The 59 year old former playback singer is in news yet again. This time for his jibe at Bollywood’s very own ‘King Khan’, SRK.

In the recently held India Today Safaigiri Summit and Awards, Abhijeet lashed out at SRK stating that it was his voice that turned him into the rock star that he is. The singer further added that, SRK lost that very quality after he stopped working with him.

Granted he has sung some memorable tunes for the actor, but isn’t the statement a bit of an over-exaggeration?

Here’s how he went after the star in his unexpected (or may not not that unexpected after all) rant:

“I made superstars with my voice. Till the time I sang for Shah Rukh Khan, he was a rock star. When I stopped singing for him – and I stopped singing for him – he came down to ‘Lungi Dance.’

Many of SRK fans are calling his remark derogatory and demeaning, especially considering SRK delivered many hits before and after the time frame he worked along with Bhattacharya.

What are your thoughts on this?
