‘Dola Re Dola’ From ‘Devdas’ Has Been Voted the ‘Greatest Bollywood Dance Song’ In New Poll

Bollywood is the only movie industry that offers more soundtracks which are filled with dance-numbers than any other industry in the world.

The song and dance routine is nearly 100 years old and the accompanying OST’s, over the years, have offered a number of memorable uptempo tracks – which still manage to “turn-it-up” at parties!

But if you were to decide on the greatest dance anthem from the Hindi movie industry, which one would you pick?

A recent poll conducted by UK’s Eastern Eye’ newspaper has named Shreya Ghoshal and Kavita Krishnamurthy’s ‘Dola Re Dola’ from the 2002 released blockbuster, ‘Devdas’ as the ‘Greatest Bollywood Dance Song of all time.’

The survey’s voters included several Bollywood fans based in the United Kingdom, majority of whom picked the Ismail Darbar composed and Nusrat Badr written, super-perky beat over other classics from the past.

Apart from reader-votes, the assessment was also done based on other factors like – choreography, impact, picturization and art-direction.

Followed by ‘Dola Re’, Mughal-E-Azam’s timeless ballad – ‘Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’ came at the #2 spot, while Tezab’s ‘Ek Do Teen’ – sung by Alka Yagnik, rounded up the Top 3 in the list of 50 greatest dance anthems.

Here is what the Top 10 looked like:

1 Dola Re Dola from Devdas

2 Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya from Mughal-e-Azam

3 Ek Toh Teen from Tezaab

4 Ek Pal Ka Jeena from the film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai

5 Hothon Pe Aisi Baat from Jewel Thief

6 Kamli from Dhoom 3

7 Piya Tu Ab To Aaja from Caravan

8 Choli Ke Peeche from Khalnayak

9 Chhaiya Chhaiya from Dil Se

10 Mehbooba Mehbooba from Sholay
