Soon after Rihanna tweeted about the ongoing farmer’s protests, a number of international celebrities joined the wagon to tweet on the issue.
Environmental activist, Greta Thunberg also took to her social media to not only extend her support to the protesting farmers and their ally organizations and political parties, but she also attempted to create a worldwide campaign urging people across the globe to join the protesters, physically or virtually.
We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India.

It wasn’t long, after the Indian ministry of foreign affairs released an official statement, calling an end to propaganda-driven social media hashtags and campaigns, and urged celebrities to not comment on issues with half-knowledge, that the 18 year old took down her Tweet without any explanation.
Several Bollywood celebs, who’ve generally kept mum on the issue, also took to their social media handles, to stand in solidarity with the government, urging Indians to stand in unity against international forces of the alleged propaganda.
People soon started trending ‘#GretaThunbergExposed’ as a result of her half-witted support to the protesters, as people called her out for promoting something, without being aware of the real issue.
Unaware of the real issue, yet promoting it.

It was also noted by many, how a section of the protesting farmers were asking the government to remove regulations or fines from the burning of stubble near the nation’s capital – something that has been considered as a major source of air pollution in the vicinity – which made Greta’s support to the cause even more awkward.

The deletion of her Tweet was later deemed the biggest ‘face palm’ moment of the day by Indian Twitter, as people called her out for igniting a major social media movement while being half-informed about the issue.
