“Who would have thought an acid attack and 17 surgeries later I would find love. But it happened. And it all started with a wrong number,” says the 26 year old, who also recently celebrated her wedding reception with Shankar.

When Lalita was attacked with acid by her cousin in a tragic incident 5 years ago, she was left with severe facial complications and disfiguration that required more than a dozen surgeries. She talks about how a small argument in 2012 changed her life forever. “So many surgeries later, too, my face was deformed. In need for change, I moved from Azamgarh to Kalwa in Thane near Mumbai,”
27 year old Ravi works as a CCTV operator at a private firm in Kandivli and got to know Lalita over the past two months, all thanks to a ‘wrong number.’
Shankar speaks of her new bride, “I liked her from the beginning. I had to only convince my mother to accept my choice. I had to make Lalita believe that she too had the right to a better life.”
Their wedding ceremony was also attended by Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who gifted the couple an apartment and also offered to pay for her surgeries in future.
