It isn’t uncommon in our country for those in power to overstep the boundaries of all forms of decency while addressing the public.
Be it their constant jibes, at each other or the socio-political scene in the country, the kind of examples and connections they try to form in their speeches don’t often fall well with the majority.
Such was the case when a Kerala MP’s wife recently made the most abhorrent connect between ‘fate’ and ‘rape’ that invited instant outrage from netizens.
State MP Hibi Eden’s wife, Anna Eden compared the two entities stating that it is better to ‘enjoy’ them, if anything cannot be done about them.
Absolutely crass and careless comment from a woman. Trivialization of rape is unacceptable. And there’s nothing to enjoy when a crime is being committed. Disgusting. https://t.co/GNGEJ6oAYY

Here’s her exact quote, which she posted on Facebook:
“Fate is like rape, if you can’t resist it, then try to enjoy it.”
Yep! The audacity to make such an insensitive remark about something as heinous as rape comes from the wife of an elected MP.
The post has now been deleted by her (obviously) and she does insist that she was interpreted wrongly, but people on internet can’t really let go of it and are now trying to give her a reality check over the ‘crass’ and not-so-well-thought-out remark.

The caption encapsulates a sick mentality. This shit cannot be tolerated.
This makes me extremely angry and disgusted.
