Local media outlets report, that Das, on several occasions, had seeked help from various organizations, but nothing really came to fruition, following which she decided to pull rickshaw to provide for her family.
Mamoni’s story was first shared by popular playback singer Papon, who tweeted her ordeal to Assam’s Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal.
Dear Sir @sarbanandsonwal, Can you advice your office to set up something easier for her? Collected her daughter’s number & it is 8011455810. Hoping to get a reply. @CMOfficeAssam https://t.co/v1IZ8C2kKu— papon angaraag (@paponmusic) November 22, 2017
Replying to Papoon’s tweet, Sonowal responded with a tweet, stating that he did have a word with Mamoni and they’ll work to provide her a mortgage to help her start a business of her own.
I spoke to her. Will provide her a soft bank loan without mortgage to start her own business https://t.co/bz3qwcjjTZ— Himanta Biswa Sarma (@himantabiswa) November 23, 2017
