Yoga Guru-cum-businessman, Swami Ramdev, who was once one of the prominent faces of ‘everything sanskari’ – has now launched a ‘swadeshi’ brand of denims and t-shirts, extending his food-and-beverages brand – ‘Patanjali’ now to clothing and accessories.
Ramdev, who was once an ardent critique of the ‘westernization’ of Indian culture has attempted to cater to the youth by including ‘ripped’ jeans in his new clothing line, to go by the name, ‘Patanjali Paridhan products.’
Yes, that’s correct! If you were already fond of Patanjali soaps and aloe vera juices, then Swami Ramdev has now offered you Patanjali denims and t-shirts as well.

But how ripped should these denims be, just so they don’t cross the ‘Sanskari Indian boundaries’ – which are obviously supposed to be decided by Ramdev, for the rest of us?
Here is what The Print reported him as saying, during the launch of the product-line on Dhanteras:
“People are wearing torn jeans these days. So some of our jeans are ripped, but we haven’t ripped them so much also so as to lose our Indian-ness and our values.”
Point noted.
Swami Ramdev also points that the launch would extend his attempt to promote ‘swadeshi’ products to “end the loot of multinational companies.”
Let’s don the ‘Swadeshi Gaurav’. Get these three Patanjali Paridhan products (1 Jeans 👖 & 2 T-Shirts👕) worth Rs 7000 in only Rs 1100 in this festive season. Join our Swadeshi movement to end the loot of multinational companies 🙏 pic.twitter.com/EGbEdmtX87
