Sridevi’s untimely death earlier this year, yet again reminded everyone – of her massive appeal and the impact her work has had in the world of movies.
The actress’ tragic and shocking demise, which occurred when she was attending a family function in Dubai with husband Boney Kapoor, left a vacuum in the Hindi movie industry, none of us ever perceived would be there.
The impact of her work and life can be seen world-over even now. The celebrated star who was remembered at this year’s Oscars, has also been awarded with an honorary tribute at the 71st Cannes film festival.
The ‘English Vinglish’ superstar received a special tribute at the Titan Reginald F. Lewis Film Honors, for her outstanding contribution to the world of cinema and acting.
Since Sridevi’s family couldn’t be there to attend the festival and receive the honor on her behalf, the award was collected by filmmaker and friend, Subhash Ghai – who spoke about his own experience of working with her.
