If the ongoing shocking cases of rapes and sexual torture being reported literally every single day was not enough, our society seemed to have reached a new low – when the news of a pregnant goat being gang-raped by 8 men in the state of Haryana, came to fore.

The distressing and appalling incident shook the nation – which is anyway dealing with the ever-increasing rate of crimes against women and little girls, as people wondered and questioned if humanity could sink any lower than this.

The crime reportedly happened on July 25th – when a group of 8 men in a Haryana village forcibly penetrated a pregnant goat, as a result of which the animal died soon after.

Appalled at the heinous nature of the crime, Bollywood celebs have too voiced their concern about where our society is headed and what is triggering people to become so sexually violent these days.

Speaking on the incident, actor and director, Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter to express his outrage and ask – what went “wrong in our evolution and education?”

Here is what Akhtar tweeted:

Actor John Abraham, who’s known for his love for animals and has advocated their rights many times before, was equally horrified by the conduct and called for ‘capital punishment’ for the perpetrators.

The actor was quoted telling the following in a Bollywood Hungama article:

“I am appalled. Being an Indian, I say women and animals are not safe in our country. Capital punishment is the only way forward. Nothing else will work with the sick men in our country. For me, my religion is being good to all living beings. These guys should be given capital punishment – simple.”

Its time for everyone to stand together to do some introspection and call for a change in the very system that often fails to scrutinize such perpetrators.

What steps do you suggest, should be taken to curb these incidents?
