Kangana Ranaut Calls ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii’ Film ‘Rubbish’, says Karan Johar Has Made ‘Daily Soap’ with ₹250 Crore

Kangana Ranaut as reignited her old feud with Karan Johar, as the latter’s high-budget potboiler masala film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ has released across the country.

The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead role and was already being talked-about for bringing back the old song-and-dance masala romance routine of the 90’s – a formula that gave Johar many hits back in the day.

Now Ranaut, who’s an avid critique of Johar, has launched a fresh attack on the filmmaker upon the release of the film and has called it ‘creatively poor.’

Taking to her Instagram story, Kangana wrote:

“Audience can’t be fooled anymore. They have rejected atrocious and creatively poor films full of fake sets and over the top fake costumes, who dresses like this in real life also where are tacky houses like those in Delhi??? What rubbish!!!! Shame on Karan Johar for copying his own vintage movies of the nineties… also how come he spend 250 cr on this stupidity? Who gives them this kind of money’s while real talent struggle to get funds !!!”

She further compared the film with the recently released Hollywood film Oppenheimer, which is doing a better business than all Bollywood films in India right now.

Ranaut said:

“Indian audiences watching 3 hours long film on the origin of nuclear weapon and intricacies of atomic science aur yahan nepo gang ka wahi saas bahu ka rona, lekin why he needs ₹250 cr to make a daily soap …. ??? Shame on you Karan Johar for making the same nth time … calling yourself the flag bearer of Indian cinema and perpetually regressing it … Don’t waste funds it’s not easy time for the industry, retire now and let young film makers make new and revolutionary films …”

Meanwhile Karan Johar’s industry friend Anurag Kashyap has come forward, supporting the film.

As for Kangana, the actress is set to release three big films this year – Tejas, Chandramukhi 2 and her own home-production – Emergency.
