Watch : Indian captain Shafali Verma becomes emotional after winning the historic U-19 world cup

It was a historic day for Indian cricket as Indian women’s team won the inaugural U-19 World Cup in South Africa. India beat England in the final match of the tournament to lift the trophy.

The Shafali Verma led team defeated England in the final pretty convincingly , first the bowlers did their job by restricting England for just 68 runs and then chased the total down easily defeating the English side by 7 wickets.



Skipper Shafali Verma was spotted getting emotional during the post match ceremony. The right handed batter from Rohtak thanked the support staff for the backing they gave everyday, she also thanked BCCI for giving her this team.

Reacting to the video one Indian cricket fan wrote, “This made all the Indians emotional – I’m pretty sure on that! We are proud of shafali and co!”

Shafali ended the tournament as the third highest run getter with 172 runs from 7 innings. Shefali has also already made her debut with the senior team and is now a vital member of the squad.
