Historic ! SS Rajamouli wins best director award at the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle Awards

SS Rajamouli has become a popular name in the global cinema after his magnum opus, RRR was released overseas. The movie broke all records in the Indian box office too before becoming an international sensation.

The movie has been receiving many global honors since its release and now the talented director has added another feather on his cap.



SS Rajamouli has now won the best director award at the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle Awards. With this feat Rajamouli has also become the first Indian to be conferred with this award.

RRR has recently also bagged two nominations at the Golden Globe awards, the movie got nominations in ‘Best Non-English Film’ and ‘Best Original song – Naatu Naatu’ categories.

The official social media account of the movie RRR shared the pictures from the award night on twitter and wrote in the caption, “Congratulations @ssrajamouli @nyfcc You made us proud. Salute Captain”

Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya also took to twitter to share picture of his father and mother holding the award together. SS Rajamouli and his wife Rama Rajamouli were seen wearing traditional Indian outfits for the event.



The Bahubali director was seen wearing shiny grey colored Kurta white light cream Pajama and matching shawl his wife wore dark blue saaree with red colored borders.

With this iconic award win, the Oscar award too does not seem very far for the iconic director. The movie has already got massive fan following in the USA from the audience and critics alike and there has been many reports that RRR will get atleast 2 nominations at the Academy awards.
