Vivek Oberoi reveals powerful Bollywood people sabotaged his career, ‘Sat At Home After Delivering Hits’

Vivek Oberoi may not have been working in many mainstream movies nowadays but the actor some years ago was in limelight for his powerful performances in movies like Company and Shootout at Lokhandwala. Even after delivering successful film at the box office he has not been getting that volume of work.

The Saathiya actor has now opened up about not getting work in the film industry due to a powerful ‘lobby’ working against him.

During an Interview with Bollywood Bubble Vivek talked about that difficult phase in his career, the actor said, “They’re extremely fond of me, proud of me because they’ve seen me go through such a phase where there was a whole lobby, a powerful set of people trying to push me down. That was when I went out and gave a Shootout at Lokhandwala, where I got a lot of praise and won awards. People were saying, ‘oh my God, this is amazing!’ Then, I was sitting at home for one and a half years, and nobody came to me with films; it defies all logic. As an actor, I was delivering, the box office was delivering, there were awards, critics were praising me, but there was no work, kaam hi nahi tha,”

Vivek further gave an example of Late Sushant Singh Rajput and said, It is breaking. Look at what Sushant Singh Rajput went through, or so many other kids go through; so much talent gets crushed because it was somebody’s decision to destroy someone for reasons other than work. There is so much power in some people’s hands; a God complex needs to go. We can’t have too much power in their hand where they can think that they can make or break someone and ensure that people don’t work in this industry again. People have said this to me, and they actually believe it. It’s our fault as an industry that we’ve given that kind of power to them. That pedestal should be given only to talent — new, old, upcoming, established, that is the most important.”

After giving critically acclaimed performances in movies like Company, Vivek was limited to roles in entertainment comedy movies like Masti. But the actor has kept his Big screen actor status aside and decided to move to OTT. Vivek was last seem in Dharavi Bank branch of MX Player and the actor will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s OTT debut, Indian police force, a series that also stars Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty in important roles.
