One of world football’s greatest ever players, Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved it all in his professional career. The iconic Portuguese forward has won five Ballon d’or and equal number of Champions league titles.
But the prolific striker is not having the best of time in 2022. From struggling to find a place in the starting XI for his club Manchester United to his heartbreaking World Cup exit, the 37 year old is far from his best.
Ronaldo was in the starting XI for the initial matches of the world cup, he failed to make an impact in those hence was benched from rest of the knock out matches and then Portugal crashed out of the world cup with a defeat against Morocco.
The scenes after the final of the match were really heartbreaking as the great forward was seen in tears as he failed to lift the trophy in his probable last world cup.
While many sympathized with CR7 there were also people on the internet that criticized him for his performance and attitude on the pitch.
Now the Bollywood actor and filmmaker has hit back at the critics, The Bhaag Milkha bhaag actor took to Instagram to extend his support for Ronaldo.
He wrote on Instagram, This is a @cristiano Ronaldo appreciation post. This guy has given his life to the game, set standards of skill, athleticism and fitness that most sportspeople can only fantasise about. It’s so easy to tear someone down in a moment when they stop behaving like robots and display human emotion.”
The actor further wrote, “It’s so easy to forget how fortunate we’ve been to witness him take the beautiful game to a whole other level through sheer commitment, hard work and improvement through self analysis,”
