Just days ago it was confirmed by Paresh Rawal that Kartik Aaryan will be playing the role of Raju in the third installment of the much awaited Hera Pheri franchise.
The film has been popularized as a cult classic in the comic genre, with the original film’s trio – Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty holding a special fans in the hearts of ardent fans.
So naturally the of Kartik taking over the role of ‘Raju’ – originally played by Akshay did not go down well with fans and soon after the news broke – there were several fans expressing their disapproval of the same.
It wasn’t long before a trend like #NoAkshayNoHeraPheri started going viral on Twitter, as social media made it clear that it wasn’t here for the replacement.
While Kartik has not spoken on the subject yet, Akshay recently opened up about the same during a media event. The actor stated that he was in fact offered the role but refused to take part in it, as he did not like the screenplay and the script. It is interesting to note that his reply comes in the wake of rumors about him asking for a huge sum of 90 crores for the film, which allegedly led to him being replaced.
An official announcement from the makers is yet to be heard, except for co-star Paresh Rawal’s nod.
