The new trailer for Kajol’s upcoming new venture ‘Salaam Venky’ was unveiled earlier on 14th November, and it showed Kajol in a never-before-seen-avatar.
The actress dons the role of a mother who faces the challenges of her life, post her son’s diagnosis with a degenerative disease – which renders him on bed, needing help all the time – seems like an emotional roller coaster.
The film has been directed by actress Revathi and is reminiscent of classic Hollywood dramas like Lorenzo’s Oil or the lesser known – …First Do No Harm, which were also stories about mothers acting as caregivers for sons, who can’t help themselves.
Interestingly, Revathi herself played a similar role a few years back in the film Margarita with a Straw, in which she played the role of a young girl suffering from Cerebral Palsy, played beautifully by Kalki Koechlin.
But in this new film, we get to see a side of Kajol, not exposed that often – as she expands her potential as an actress.
There is also a surprise element towards the end of the trailer, as actor Aamir Khan shows up for a cameo.
