It is being widely reported by prominent media outlets that Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma actress Disha Vakani has been suffering from throat cancer.
The character Vakani portrayed on the screen, was famous as much for her comic timing as for her very peculiar voice – something that required extra efforts for the actress to pull off.
All the stress that voice modulation put on her throat had initially taken a toll on her, as was revealed by the actress several years ago in an interview.

While Disha has been away from her role and the show, after taking a sabbatical to raise her kids and concentrate on her familial life, unconfirmed reports are rife about the actress’s illness.
Soon after reports of the television star’s cancer diagnosis were shared online, fans were seen coming together to send their prayers and wishes for the beloved actress.
Disha herself has not clarified if there’s any truth to these reports or if these are just rumours – but some of her colleagues from the show have come forth to deny the same.
