Virat Kohli dedicates his 71st century to wife Anushka & daughter Vamika, kisses his engagement ring after the milestone

Virat Kohli on Thursday did something for which whole nation have been waiting eagerly since over 2 years. The Indian Batter scored his 71st international hundred against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup last match.

The remarkable ton sent the entire country into frenzy even after being out of the tournament in super 4. India had an Asia cup to forget this time as the team lost their first two super 4 matches to arch rival Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

But Virat’s much awaited century has brought some relief to the cricket crazy country. The 33 year old played a blistering knock against the Afghans and was in no mood to hold back, scoring 122 runs in just 61 balls with a fantastic strike rate of 200.

The celebration also showed the relief Virat felt after waiting for so long for a 100. Virat laughed by looking at the dug out, lifted his hands and showed gratitude. He also took out his engagement ring attached to a chain from his neck and kissed it with pride.

During the mid innings break Virat said that he would like to dedicate his hundred to wife Anushka and daughter Vamika, speaking to Sanjay Manjarekar, Virat said:

“And I kissed my ring. You see me standing here because one person has put things in perspective for me. That’s Anushka. This hundred is for her and our little daughter Vamika as well. When you have someone beside you having conversations putting things in perspective, as Anushka has been… when I came back, I was not desperate. After six weeks off I was refreshed. I realized how tired I was. Competitiveness doesn’t allow it, but this break allowed me enjoy the game again,”

In the end India won the game comfortably and finished the Asia Cup on a high. The biggest positive for team India will be their star player Virat Kohli getting back to his best.
