Neeraj Chopra’s Family Celebrated His Historic Silver Medal With Dance At His Village

Celebrations erupted at Neeraj Chopra’s village as the iconic athlete won a historic Silver medal at World Atheletics Championships. Neeraj threw a huge throw of 88.13 meters at the event that helped him secure 2nd position.

With the silver medal win Neeraj has become only the 2nd Indian after Anju Bobby George to win a medal at the World Championships. Anju Bobby George secured bronze medal for India in 2003 in the Long jump event and after almost 19 years India got its second world championship medal through our golden boy.



Neeraj Qualified for the finals with a bigger throw of 88.39 meters. Congratulations poured in from every corner of the country for the Olympic champion who yet again made the country proud.

People and family members at Neeraj’s hometown celebrated his medal win together with dance. A video shared by the news agency ANI showed women dancing to celebrate the silver medal.

Neeraj’s father also expressed his joy and hoped for a Gold medal the next time around, “This is a great achievement. We are happy, the country is proud. We are hopeful he will win gold next time. It depends on the kind of day he’s having but we are hopeful he will get gold.” he said to ANI.



Prime minister Narendra Modi also heaped praises on Neeraj for making the country proud with his performance, PM Modi wrote, “A great accomplishment by one of our most distinguished athletes! Congratulations to @Neeraj_chopra1 on winning a historic Silver medal at the #WorldChampionships. This is a special moment for Indian sports. Best wishes to Neeraj for his upcoming endeavors.”
