Rajpal Yadav has earned yet another blockbuster in his second innings as an actor, with the mega-success of the recently released – Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
The Kartik Aryan and Kiara Advani starred, which featured Yadav reprising his iconic role from the original – which starred Akshay Kumar, has grossed 300 crores at the box office.
Even though Rajpal has been missed from the scene for a while, and his classic comedies made people miss him all these years – he has stated how he strayed away from the path of OTT – because of the platform’s ‘vulgarity’ and ‘nudity.’
That may change soon, as the actor awaits his OTT debut with the release of – Ardh, which features him in the role of a transgender, and will also star Rubina Dilaik and Hiten Tejwani in pivotal roles.
But Rajpal maintains his stance on the OTT content, in general.
Here’s what he was quoted as telling Hindustan Times on the subject:
“People should be able to watch it with their family. This is the reason I was away from OTT for five years now, and couldn’t be a part of anything. Main OTT ki bauhaut izzat karta hoon. Kala jitni bikharti hai, utni nikharti hai. 70mm aur TV ke beech mein ek yeh concept aaya, lekin usme bhi do raaste hain. Either you can sit alone to watch it, or view it with your entire family.”
He further clarified his stance stating:
“Iss baat ka vishesh dhyaan rakhne ki koshish kar raha hoon, ki jo bhi show ho, family involved ho, woh unhe entertain kar sake. Baaki gaali galoch ki web series hain, main unka virodhi nahi hoon. There is an audience for that who watches it. There’s nothing wrong og right when it comes to art.”
