It was in the year 1994, when in an iconic moment India won both Miss Universe and Miss World titles – for the first time ever.
It was when two young and budding beauties – Aishwarya Rai, who was 21 then, and Sushmita Sen, who was just 19 represented India at the global stage of beauty pageants.
While Sushmita won the main title of Miss India, Aishwarya was the runner up that year – and there on went on to participate in the Miss World competition.
Sush – brought home the ‘Miss Universe’ title for the first time ever, establishing herself over time, as the most iconic beauty pageant winner of the country, Aish subsequently won the ‘Miss World’ title.
