Nawazuddin Siddiqui Was Asked 3 Things He Would Change About Bollywood, Here’s What He Said…

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is admired as much for his talent, as for his blunt ability to keep it real off screen also – especially when it comes to speaking on the shortcomings of the industry he’s a part of.

The actor, who’s presently being seen in perhaps his most mainstream role yet, in Tiger Shroff’s ‘Heropanti 2’, appeared for a media interaction, during which he was asked to name 3 things he’d like to change about the industry.



Responding to the same, Nawaz pointed out that the first thing he would change about it is the name itself – Bollywood. Saying that ‘Hindi Film Industry’ would a much better name.

It is to be noted, that a lot of seasoned artists of the Hindi film business, find the term ‘Bollywood’ reductive, as it is a copy of the term ‘Hollywood’ – which is actually a place in the United States, serving home to several big stars and production houses. And thereby giving the American film industry a name.

But Bollywood, quite doesn’t make sense – when you think of it like that.

Further to his problem with the name, Nawaz also expressed his displeasure with the obsession of film industry folks with the English languages, he went on to make his remaining to points pertaining to the usage of the language, as a sort of status symbol.



Nawaz pointed out how the scripts that are give to them are in English, instead of Hindi – which is how he’d like it to be, and he also stated how everyone in the sets speaks to each other in English, which does not sit well with him – as it makes it hard for him to understand instructions.
