‘I didn’t belong anymore, felt like a stranger’: Lucky Ali Say He Left Mumbai After Dad Mehmood’s Death

Lucky Ali – one of the most iconic voices and faces of the 90’s Indipop music.

His nostalgic tunes still sound just as timeless, and make their way into our current playlists, every now and then.

But what many of you might not know – is that he is also the son of Bollywood’s legendary and iconic actor, Mehmood.

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, the singer-songwriter – who actually never trained in music or singing, said that he had a difficult time staying within Mumbai after the death of his father 2004, which is around when we started hearing and seeing less of him.

Lucky stated that despite many people within showbiz, courtesy of his own popularity and the status of his father, the singer often felt like a stranger after his father’s demise, and felt as if he didn’t belong there anymore.

Lucky has since been wandering and living in various places across the country. He says that he can’t stick to one place for too long as he feels it hampers his growth.

But despite leaving Mumbai behind, Lucky Ali feels he still has a special place for Mumbai in his heart.

“Mumbai is like a mother to me. So, yes, Mumbai is my maika and I am Mumbai’s Mai ka lal!” – he said.
