Bappi Lahiri’s 12 Year Old Grandson Rego B Says He Will Take The Icon’s Musical Legacy Forward

Music runs in the veins of the Lahiri family, it seems. With their iconic patriarch, Bappi Lahiri, who passed away earlier this year, leading the pack – the family is already readying another member to be introduced to the world of music.

And that is the late musical icon’s grandson – Rego B.

Rego, whose real name is Swastik Bansal – is just 12 years old, and is already determined to take his late grandfather’s legacy forward.

Bappi Lahiri – who gave Bollywood some of the most iconic disco-influenced dance numbers through the 70’s and 80’s, has apparently inspired the young lad, with his musical contribution to the country and particularly, Bollywood.

Here is what he has been quoted as saying by Hindustan Times, on being influenced by the genius of his late grandfather:

“I had a very special bond with my daddu. We were more like friends. We are anyway a close knit family, so it was a cherishable bond. He was my first critic. Whenever I used to create something, I used to go to him and he was the first one to correct me… Ke yeh acha nahi lag raha, aur feel laao”

He further added:

“The passing away of my daddu suddenly impacted me a lot. In fact, I am still in shock. I can’t believe that he is gone. In fact, even thinking about it makes me speechless even today”

Even though he’s still young, Rego already has his eyes set for musical domination, following the footsteps of his legendary granddad.

“My dream is to be like him. His legacy is so rich. It inspires me, and is driving my dream to be in the highest category of music just like him. When people look at me and say ‘arrey chotha Bappi da aa gaya’, that is the moment when I will feel I have fulfilled my dream”
