When Siddhant Chaturvedi Reminded A Clueless Ananya Pandey About ‘Real’ Struggle Of Bollywood Outsiders, ‘Your Struggle Starts Where Our Dreams Are Fulfilled’

One of the most talked-about one-liners that pretty much summed-up the never-ending debacle about ‘nepotism’ and the whole ‘outsider vs insider’ debate in Bollywood, was served by Gully Boy actor Siddhanth Chaturvedi.

Back in the year 2019, after gaining massive popularity with his performance in Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Gully Boy’, Siddhant appeared on the ‘actors roundtable’ which featured some other newcomers of the year, concluding and talking about the said year in Indian cinema.

Hosted by Rajeev Masand in the style of The Hollywood Reporter’s roundtable series, the show featured actors talking about their journey in showbiz so far, their advent in movies, the world of cinema and everything else that goes with the topic.

In the midst of the discussion Ananya Pandey, who’s the daughter of actor Chunky Pandey – and was launched in movies by none other than Karan Johar, who has famously launched several other star kids before, was quizzed about her opinion on Nepotism.

During her response, she pointed out how star kids too have to struggle in order to make a place for themselves in the industry, even if they manage to get the first launch courtesy of their connections.

Ananya tried to gain some pointless pity by bringing attention to the fact that her dad had never been part of a Dharma production film and never appeared on Karan Johar’s talk-show either. “It isn’t as easy as people say,” she said.

While most others in the roundtable chimed-in to that notion, Siddhant quickly interrupted to point out that whatever struggle Ananya may be referring to, only begins at a point when the first push to their journey in showbiz has already been given. The journey to that first ‘break’ or opportunity itself is what constitutes the ‘real struggles’ that most outsiders with no connections in the film business.

‘I think everybody has their own struggle,’ Sid said, making everyone nod-along – not realizing what was coming next. ‘Difference is only that – Jahan humare sapne pure hote hai, waha inka struggle shuru hota hai (Your struggle starts where our dreams are fulfilled).’ – he said, with a know-it-all smirk on his face.

And that in-your-face savagery, my friends, turned into one of the most talked-about moments on the subject of ‘Neptism’ as people couldn’t help but praise the actor for bluntly putting it like it is.

Re-live the moment below:

Perfectly summed it up for those who require the obvious to be spelt out.
