You may have seen a popular Hindu wedding custom, in which a bride is brought to the pavilion or to the stage where the groom awaits her, with a sheet of flowers or a piece of cloth carried along with her over her head.
The custom is usually done by the bride’s brothers, who hold the sheet from all corners and walk along with her, carrying it over her head – and is one of the most beautiful highlights of a Hindu wedding.
In actress Katrina Kaif’s recent wedding, the ritual was performed by her 6 sisters – who gleamed with pride as they ceremoniously brought her to the Mandap.
Katrina has a total of 7 siblings, the youngest being her brother Sebastien Laurent Michel and rest 6 being sisters.
While sharing images from her beautiful wedding ceremony with Vicky Kaushal, which took place in Rajasthan Six Senses For Barwara, the actress stated that her sisters have remained her ‘pillars of strength.’
“Growing up, we sisters always protected each other. They are my pillars of strength and we keep each other grounded… May it always stay that way!”
