Breaking Traditions: CDS General Bipin Rawat’s Daughters Perform His Last Rites In Emotional Moment

The entire nation was struck with tragedy earlier this week upon hearing the news of the demise of CDS General Bipin Rawat, and 11 other army personals – who were all aboard an army chopper which crashed in Tamil Nadu.

Bipin Rawat – who had a lasting legacy, was a four star general of the Indian Army. He was also the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee previously and the 26th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army.

Now as Mr. Rawat was given his due respect during his funeral ceremony, his daughters also broke the tradition by performing his last rites, themselves.

As per Hindu traditions, the last rites of a deceased family member are generally performed by male members of the family, but Mr. Rawat’s daughters – Kritika and Tarini, did the rites in a heartbreaking moment as captured in Delhi’s Brar Square crematorium.

Kritika and Tarini – tragically lost both their parents, as Mr. Rawat’s wife Madhulika was also on board the same chopper, and they both passed away as a result of the gruesome accident.
