Salim Khan Says Amitabh Bachchan Should Retire Now, “Must Free Himself From The Race’

On the occasion of Amitabh Bachchan’s 79th birthday, yesterday, Salim Khan – the writer who co-penned Bachchan’s cult classic ‘Sholay’ along with Javed Akhtar, has suggested that the former should officially retire from Bollywood.

Khan, who was a famous script-writer back in the day, and is the father of superstar Salman Khan, has stated that Amitabh should take a permanent sabbatical from work and should ‘free himself from the race.’

During a recent interview Dianik Bhaskar, Salim Khan stated:

“Amitabh Bachchan should retire now. He has achieved all that he had to in this life. One should keep a few years of life for oneself as well.”

He further added:

“Amitabh Bachchan has played a brilliant innings professionally. He has done good work so he must free himself from the race. He must take a graceful retirement.”

He also went on to say that there are no ‘not stories for an actor like Amitabh now’, further stating that our films have improved and changed, but we do not have good scripts.

Apparently, the countless Bachchan fans who still await his movies would not be happy with that idea.

But then again, it’s all for Big B to decide – sometimes our passion for our work is what keeps us going.
