‘I Was Asked To Play a Mother at 24 To a Famous Hero’: Richa Chadha On Sexism, Casting Couch & More!

Richa Chadha is one of the best female actresses we have today.

Her stellar performances have often garnered her widespread acclaim in films in Gangs Of Wasseypur, Masaan and Fukrey.

And although she has finally managed to carve a niche for herself in the industry now, the road to that kind of success hasn’t been all that easy for her.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, the star opened-up about her bitter-sweet experiences in the film industry – ranging from casting couch, to being hit on, being replaced at the last moment by someone with better connections and the rampant sexism in the industry.

Richa also revealed that during the start of her career, when she was just 24 – a casting director offered her the role of actor Hrithik Roshan’s on-screen mother. Naturally she turned it doubt for obvious reasons.

Richa also candidly speaks about being stereotyped due to her famous role of ‘Bholi Punjaban’ from Fukrey and the effects of nepotism in her own struggles in the industry.
