Shreyas Talpade Talks About Losing Films in Bollywood: “Friends Stab Your Back For Films”

Shreyas Talpade had promising star in movies, with his starring role in Nagesh Kukkunoor’s critically acclaimed – ‘Iqbaal’.

But several years later, his career hasn’t quite taken the kind of flight one would have expected – after he showcased his talent in his initial ventures.

In a recent interview with News-18, the ‘Dor’ actor opened up about his struggles in Bollywood and also the internal politics in the film industry, which involves even friends stabbing your back for the sake of getting films.

Speaking on the bias and rejection he’s faced over the years, here’s what the actor was quoted telling the publication:

“There are certain films of mine which bombed at the box office and there are certain films of certain actors which didn’t work but yet those actors keep getting work from big banners and you wonder how?”

He further added:

“This is the disparity that I don’t like. This is some kind of hypocrisy. Just say it in the face that you want that actor for something else and not for his performance. This is very unfair. You cannot have a separate set of rules for certain people and separate rules for somebody else.”

On his bad experiences with his own friends in the biz, the actor stated:

“I have done certain films for friends only keeping their interests in mind but then I have been back-stabbed by the same friends. Then there are friends who go ahead and make films without including me, which makes one question if they are even friends at all. Actually, in the industry, 90% of the people are just acquaintances, there are only 10% who actually feel happy when you do well. The egos are so fragile here.”

If we go by all the recent accounts of all these Bollywood actors, the industry – even after all these years, is still a hostile place to work in.

When will things change for the better?
