India got itself in the top 3 of the 2021 Miss Universe competition, all thanks to 22 year old Adline Castelino.
The beauty represented India at the international beauty competition held at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – Hollywood, Florida, and was declared the third runner-up during the finale.
Castelino, who originally hails from Kuwait, had arrived to India some time ago to become financially independent.
The model is born to Manglorean parents who hail from Karnataka, India – and hence she decided to represent the country in the competition.
Here’s what she was quoted telling by PTI during an interview:
“As a young girl growing up in Kuwait with no exposure, I would always look up to Miss Universe with so much awe but never imagined a girl like me who had a speech defect and had marks on her body could ever represent her country on such a prestigious platform.”
Castelino came 3rd in the competition, while Miss Mexico Andrea Meza has been crowned the 69th Miss Universe.
