Report: Akshay Kumar Might Join Dostana 2 After Kartik Aaryan’s Exit

After Kartik Aaryan was shown the exit door in the midst of the ongoing shooting for Dharma Production’s upcoming comic venture ‘Dostana 2’, reports are rife that the producers may have already found a new face for the role.

The flick, which serves as a sequel to the Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham starrer slapstick comedy of the same name released in the year 2008, had first pulled-in Kartik for the lead role, but the makers decided to part ways citing ‘professional differences.’

It was then reported that the actor was alleged of showing ‘unprofessional behaviour’ on the sets, and was fired from the film despite having filmed nearly half of it. Several of his fans later took to social media to insist that it was in fact due to ‘nepotism’ – something which the man behind Dharma Productions – Karan Johar, has often been accused of.

As it turns out, latest reports pertaining to the film now suggest that actor Akshay Kumar might be serving as a replacement for the ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ star.

A source close to the production said:

“Karan Johar has personally requested Akshay to come on board Dostana 2 and help him out, as lots of money has already been invested in the shoot of the film. So, in all likelihood, Akshay will join the cast.”

All of these anticipatory talks aside, one question that no one seems to be asking is – why do we even need a sequel to a film that hasn’t aged well with audiences over the years, with it’s stereotypical portrayal of gay men?

Haven’t we had enough of Bollywood perpetuating wrong images of LGBTQ folks over the years?

Give it up already!
