Anand Mahindra To Fund Boxing Academy For Former National Boxer Who Drives Auto To Survive

Remember we recently posted about the story of a former national-level boxer, who was pushed into working as an auto-driver due to his financial cicumstnaces?

Abid Khan’s story recently went viral, after a video showcased how the once-national-level athlete was now driving an auto to make ends-meet.

Khan was a boxing champion back in the 80’s, and represented Punjab University. But as we all know – cricket is the only sport that gets limelight and financial support on a bigger scale, hence leading to athletes from other sports struggling to achieve their goals.

After the story of his life went viral, business tycoon and humanitarian Anand Mahindra has extended help to him, stating that he’d be willing to fund a boxing academy that could be mentored by Khan’s skills and expertise.

Here’s what Mr. Mahindra stated on his Twitter handle:

‘I especially appreciate his not looking for a handout. In any case I prefer investing in people’s talents & passion rather than offer charity. Please let me know how I can invest and support his ‘startup’ boxing academy…’

Known for being very active on his social media handle, Anand Mahindra has previously won many hearts for his several acts of kindness – which also include, recently providing a home to the famous Idli Amma – an ageing woman selling idlis at merely Rs. 1.

And yet again, Mr. Mahindra has come forth to put a smile on another face.

Way to go!
