Anu Aggarwal had soon transformed into the nation’s sweetheart after her successful breakthrough role in the romantic classic – Aashiqui.
The beautiful and bold actress had a promising career ahead of her, until it all came to an abrupt end – when she was involved in a brutal car accident, back in the 90’s.
The accident took place while she was coming from a late night party, and it left her face completed damaged, breaking her jaw and requiring her to undergo several facial surgeries.

Not only that, she went in a coma for nearly a month and lost all memory of her life before the tragic incident.
The now-52-year-old yesteryear star has reflected back on the fateful date that changed her life completely.
In a recent conversation with Times Of India, here’s what she was quoted as telling:
“In the year 1999, I met with an accident and slipped into a coma. I used to live in an ashram before the accident where I had a spiritual name. After the accident, I knew nothing, but I knew my spiritual name. In 2001, I took ‘sanyas (renunciation)’ and kept my head shaved. I lived with a bag in one hand, in humble surroundings. just studying the mind and human psychology”.

She also previously also revealed how the injuries from her accident were so bad that doctors didn’t believe she would go on to live for more than 3 years. But the former actress has stated that it was through yoga she was able to prove them wrong.
After turning her life around through meditation, Anu presently lives in Mumbai where she teaches Yoga at her own centre.
