Anil Kapoor wasn’t quite convinced he was old enough to play Priyanka Chopra’s father in the 2015 flick – Dil Dhadakne Do, especially because they had films to be done in the past, in which they were romantic pairs.
The actor’s great genes and fitness regime has certainly contributed to him still looking a lot youthful for his age (he is 64!), so it came as a shock to him to finally come in terms with the fact that he might just have to play father of a co-star (Priyanka is 38) he was romantically paired with, in the past.
But despite initial apprehensions, Anil did end-up signing ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and played PC’s father in the film.

In a recent interview with DNA, he reflected back on his initial reaction on being offered the role:
“But my issue was… I am being very honest. I was like, ‘Priyanka Chopra’s father, yaar!’ We were supposed to do films where I was romantically with her. I thought, ‘Ranveer Singh phir bhi newcomer hai yaar.”
He further stated:
“Harsh (his son, Harshvardhan) came to me and said, ‘You are not actually her father, you are playing a role.’ Sometimes, you need such broad-minded and forward-thinking people around you who put sense into you. I thought, ‘Things have changed now, it’s you playing a character. You are not actually her father.”

If one looks as good as Anil does at his age, such apprehensions are only natural, but considering their actual age gap, it doesn’t seem that far-fetched after all.
