Pranab Mukherjee Has Passed Away: Ex-President Of India Dies in Delhi Hospital

Pranab Mukherjee has passed away after suffering from an unfortunate mishap earlier this week.

The former president of India had apparently fallen at his house in Delhi, following which he had to be operated for a blood clot in his brain.

The Congress leader’s health continued to deteriorate, as he had also developed a septic infection in his lung, following the operation.

Later on Monday afternoon, doctors confirmed that Mukherjee had passed away. The announcement was first made by his son, Abhijit.



He was 84.

“With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers ,duas & prarthanas from people throughout India !” – Abhijit wrote in his Twitter post.



Pranab Mukherjee served in Congress for nearly 5 decades, serving as a parliamentarian on several occasions. He had also been appointed as the governor of RBI in the 1980’s and eventually served as the president of India from 2012 to 2017.
