As Promised, Sonu Sood Opens Martial Arts Training School For Pune’s 85-YO ‘Warrior Aaji’

It was last month, when a viral video featuring an 85 year old female street performer, showcasing her martial-arts skills caught the attention of Sonu Sood.

The actor, know infamous for his humanitarian work, promised to work to build a martial arts school for the lady – after getting inspired from her zeal to go out and work at her age.

Turns out, a month later, Sonu Sood did in fact keep his promise.



A new school has been inaugurated on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi for the 85-year old Shanta Balu Pawar who got infamous with the honorific internet-name- ‘Warrior Aaji’, after her viral video.

Aaji is now set to teach young boys and girls the art of self-protection and self-defence.

In a video Aaji can be seen expressing her gratitude while thanking Sonu for enabling a new life for her. She has named the school – ‘Sonu Sood Martial Arts School’, as a form of ‘thank you’ for him.

“This dream of my mine has been fulfilled by Sonu. I have named my school after him. I am very thankful to him,” News18 quotes her as saying.

Yogesh Dattatray Sasane – who cooperated to provide and arrange for the space after he was approached by the volunteers of Nirmitee, was quoted as saying the following by The Indian Express:



“The existing premises of Savali Foundation is for recreational and development activities for women, such as karate, yoga, teaching, parlor training, and computer classes. I proposed that I will give the open space to her for free, and the help from Sonu Sood goes directly to Aaji.”

Another life sorted out, thanks to Sonu Sood.
