Just day after the film fraternity was coming in terms of Irrfan Khan’s sudden demise, it has been struck with another blow.
Earlier today, veteran actor and star of movies like ‘Bobby’ and ‘Chandni’ – Rishi Kapoor, passed away, after a long battle with cancer. However, it hasn’t been officially revealed yet, whether the cause of his death was the same.
Kapoor, who had been fighting the illness for nearly 2 years – receiving treatment for the same in New York, was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital on Wednesday morning. He was 67.
Regarded for his bubbly on-screen personality contracting it with a stern, matter-of-factly, persona in real life – as frequently seen in his uninhibited Twitter reactions, the actor, appeared in several classics of Hindi cinema, for the 50 years of his career.
And like most mainstream Bollywood actors of that time, music was a crucial part of those classics – and what eventually helped create his image and add to his iconic status.
As the world of movies mourn another immense loss in such a short span, we remember the late actor with some of his most memorable, and celebrated songs in films. Tracks that have not just become iconic in Indian pop culture, but are also among the first things to cross your head when you think of his legacy.
Here we go:
OH HANSINI
OM SHANTI OM
HUM TUM EK KAMRE MEIN BAND HO
DAFLI WALE DAFLI BAJA
MEIN SHAYAR TOH NAHI
SOCHENGE TUMHE PYAAR KARE KE NAHI
TU TU HAI WAHI
CHANDNI O MERI CHANDNI
HUMNE TUMKO DEKHA
EK MEIN AUR EK TU
CHEHRA HAI YA CHAND KHILA HAI
HOGA TUMSE PYARA KAUN
BACHNA AYE HASINO
PARDA HAI PARDA
KHULLAM KHULLA PYAAR
