Indian cinema saw a series of up’s and down’s in the year 2019 – both artistically and commercially. While small budget films like Bala and Dream Girl fared really well at the box office, other big-budget movies – which carried huge expectations with them, simply tanked (a la – Kalank, Kesari).
Creatively – some of the most critically acclaimed movies of the year were – URI, Bala, Badla, Gully Boy, Sonchiriya – some of which may not have performed that well at the box office, but they delivered quality cinema, nevertheless.
A series of biopic and real-life inspired movies were churned out – like, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Mission Mangal, Saand Ki Aankh, etc – which struck a chord with audiences and critics alike.
Now looking back at the year that has been, if you were to select your personal favourite movie out of the ones released in the past 12 months alone – which one would you pick?
