Akshay Kumar had recently ‘liked’ a video showcasing students in Delhi indulging in some form of violence while protesting against the Constitution Amendment Bill, brought by the BJP government.
The actor’s reaction to the upload on Twitter, instantly caught the attention of Twiterrati – many of whom called him out for apparently supporting the ‘clash’ between the Delhi police and Jamia University students.
Soon as ‘#BoycottAkshayKumar’ started trending, the actor took to his Twitter handle to respond with an apology – stating that he must have clicked on the ‘like’ button mistakenly, while scrolling through his feeds.
But as the issue continued to spread like fire and several Bollywood celebs came out in support of the protesting students, a fan was dismayed by Akshay’s refusal to stand with the protesters and excusing himself out of the whole situation.
Calling him out for his inability to speak on the controversial subject – a fan made a sarcastic comment, indirectly calling him spineless. And much to everyone’s surprise filmmaker, Anurag Kashyap – co-signed with the Twitter user’s comment.
“I have immense respect for Akshay Kumar. It must be extremely difficult to be trained in Martial Arts with a spine missing.” – which is where Anurag chimed-in with a simple – ‘Absolutely’.
