Deepika Padukone To Play Draupadi – “Will Present Her Point of View in Mahabharat”

Deepika Padukone is gearing to depict Mahabharata from an all new fresh perspective.

The Bajirao Mastani actress, who’s stepping in the shoes of Draupadi to essay her role in the upcoming mega budget, epic saga – Mahabharata, has vowed to present her point of view in a way, like it has never been done before.

While speculations have been rife about the making of this magnum opus and we’ve been hearing about it for almost 2 decades, with the alleged star-cast changing every now and then, the magnitude with which this story is required to be told – has made every big shot sweat and back-out of it, eventually.

But it seems now it finally may be happening after all.

Teaming up with producer Madhu Mantena, Deepika is going to co-produce the saga herself – presenting a fresh version of the tale, as seen through the eyes of Draupadi.

Here’s what Deepika was quoted as saying by Indiatimes on the subject:

“I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be essaying the role of Draupadi. I truly believe that it is the role of a lifetime. While the ‘Mahabharat’ is popularly known for its mythological tales and cultural influence, many of life’s lessons are also derived from the ‘Mahabharat’ but most often from its men. Telling it with this fresh and new perspective will not only be interesting but also very significant.”

If you’re already trying to picture her in the role, here’s a little something to help give you the idea (the actress has done enough roles in historical epics to give you a hint):
