Deepika Padukone may have been in a relationship with Ranveer Singh for a significant amount of time prior to tying the knot last year, but it was still affirmative on her part that they weren’t going to live-in prior to putting a ring on it.
The ‘Padmaavat’ actress recently opened up about how it was a deliberate choice on her part to not be in a live-in relationship with Singh before marriage, as she believed that it may have ‘killed the excitement.’
In a recent interview with Harper Bazaar, here is what the model-turned-actress was quoted telling:
“There was a lot of temptation to move away from the traditional, especially for the two of us, who are constantly travelling, but it was important to me.”
She further added:
“Ranveer has always been okay with whatever. He’s always said, ‘Whatever makes you happy makes me happy.’ But for me, it’s about wanting to do everything at the right time. It’s how I saw my parents do it, so I didn’t know any other way.”
Speaking on how living-in would have killed the excitement, she further stated:
“If we had started living together earlier, then what would we be discovering later on? That’s what this year has been—living together and discovering each other. I like to say we made the best decision of our lives. I know people are cynical about marriage, but that hasn’t been our experience. We believe in the institution, and we’re enjoying every bit of it.”

No doubt the plan seems to have worked out for the two, considering how the fire and chemistry keeps on blooming between the awesome-twosome, long after tying the knot.
