If censoring movies to such a greater degree that they end up losing their very context was not enough – a number of flicks in India have also been thrown in the ‘ban factory’ – never really seeing the light of the day.
We aren’t sure how much politics goes into certifying these movies, but some of these have actually gone under the knife for the silliest of the reasons – especially in the recent times, when the board was being administered by Pahlaj Nihalani.
From their homophobic instances to beep out the word – ‘GAY’ in several movies and TV shows (as if its a curse word), to deciding what truly represents Indian youth and instructing filmmakers to chop things up based on that. Indian Censor Board has always been under controversies.
But there have also been some poor movies, that have actually never made past either the board or the courts. The movies, that could not even see the light of the day – forget about being heavily edited.
