After a week-long tensed environment in the Valley, the BJP led government finally cleared its motives in today’s assembly.
Amidst news of Jammu and Kashmir’s leading MP’s – Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti’s alleged house-arrest, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the government has finally decided to do away with article 370 – which gave a ‘special state’ status to J&K.
The opposition, as expected, created ruckus in the Rajya Sabha while Shah made the declaration to abolish the article.
Opposition leaders like, Anand Sharma, Ambika Soni, Ghulam Nabi Azad among others have showed their disapproval on the government’s announcement.
Section 144 is presently imposed on the state of Jammu and Kashmir while multiple armymen have been deployed on sensitive areas.
