Assam Floods: Akshay Kumar Has Donated 2 Crores To Provide Aid To the State!

Akshay Kumar has stepped up and reached out to Assam – as the state is struggling with the tragedy of flood disasters.

The ‘Mission Mangal’ actor has donated a sum of Rs 2 crores in aid to the flooded state – 1 crore each for CM Relief Fund as well as Kaziranga National Park.

Akshay, who’s previously been generous enough to donate to causes involving the country’s farmers or families of martyred soldiers, announced his help for the cause on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Here is what he wrote:

“Absolutely heartbreaking to know about the devastation by floods in Assam. All affected, humans or animals, deserve support in this hour of crisis. I’d like to donate 1cr each to the CM Relief Fund and to Kaziranga Park rescue.”

Nearly 46 lakh people have been affected in the state by the floods, while at least 15 people are reported to have lost their lives so far. The wildlife also faces turmoil, as the Kaziranga national park – home to several rare species of wild animals, is almost 90% flooded at this point.

Let us hope more people step-up to extend their help to the people of Assam.
